Offline / PWA issues
VertaFlow installs as a Progressive Web App (PWA) — it runs like a native app, works on your home screen, and keeps previously loaded screens available offline.
Can’t install
Section titled “Can’t install”- Open the right host. Install from your VertaFlow app URL (app.vertaflow.io or your workspace host).
- Desktop (Chrome/Edge): look for the install icon in the address bar, or use the browser menu’s Install option.
- iOS Safari: use the Share button → Add to Home Screen.
- Android Chrome: use the menu → Install app / Add to Home screen.
Full walkthrough: Mobile & install (PWA).
Offline behavior
Section titled “Offline behavior”Once installed, the app shell loads without a connection and screens you’ve already opened stay available offline.
The Offline screen is a working hub, not a dead end. When you open VertaFlow with no signal, it shows:
- Today’s schedule — the appointments staged from the last time you opened the schedule while online, with times, status, and location.
- Your client directory — searchable, with one-tap Call and Email buttons so you can reach a contact straight from the field even with no data connection.
- Pending changes — a count of any edits you made offline that are saved on your device and waiting to sync.
VertaFlow stages this data automatically whenever you visit your Clients and Appointments screens online, so the more you use the app, the more is available off the grid. Staged data is a read-only copy kept on your device — it only refreshes when you reopen those screens with a connection.
Anything that needs the server in real time (sending email, taking payments, pulling a record you haven’t opened before) still requires a connection. Edits to clients, appointments, reservations, invoices, estimates, and jobs are saved locally and replay automatically when you reconnect — you’ll see a “Synced N offline changes” confirmation.
App feels stale or stuck
Section titled “App feels stale or stuck”The PWA caches its shell, so an old version can linger after an update.
- Close and reopen the installed app.
- Still stale? Uninstall and reinstall it (remove from home screen / apps, then add again). This clears the cached shell and pulls the latest.
Push notifications on iOS
Section titled “Push notifications on iOS”iOS only delivers web push to installed PWAs. Install VertaFlow to your home screen first, open it from there, then enable push under Settings → Security. See Email/notifications not sending.
